今週末、高知大学では植物学会が開催されており、ルルルには学会参加者の方々が宿泊してくれています。研究者や植物好きの方々との交流は、普段とは違う刺激があってとても楽しいですね！

高知といえば牧野植物園。ちょうど最近、朝ドラ「らんまん」を見始めたこともあり、植物の話に興味が出てきたところでした。

学会参加者の方々から色々な話を聞く中で、特に面白かったのが東南アジアにしかないとされているヒエボスゲ（Carex baccans）という赤色の植物の話。なんと、牧野植物園でこの植物を発見したとのこと！

でも、これだけ珍しいのに牧野植物園ではまだ紹介されていないらしく、学会の皆さんも「なんでだー！」と驚いていました（笑）。貴重な植物がひっそりと存在しているという話を聞くと、ますます植物の世界の奥深さを感じますね。

This weekend, the Plant Science Conference is being held at Kochi University, and many attendees are staying at LuLuLu. It’s always exciting to talk with researchers and plant enthusiasts—it brings a fresh perspective to everyday life!

Speaking of Kochi, you can’t miss the Makino Botanical Garden. Recently, I started watching the morning drama Ranman, which got me more interested in plants.

One of the most fascinating stories I heard from the conference participants was about a rare red-colored plant called Carex baccans, which is said to exist only in Southeast Asia. However, to everyone's surprise, it was discovered in Makino Botanical Garden!

Despite being such a rare find, it has not been officially introduced by the botanical garden. The researchers were quite puzzled, exclaiming, “Why hasn’t this been documented yet?” 🌿 Such conversations make the world of plants even more intriguing!

How to Get to Makino Botanical Garden from LuLuLu

🚶 By Public Transportation:

1. Take the Tosaden Tram from Kamimachi 5-chome to Harimayabashi (about 10 minutes).
2. Transfer to the Tosaden Bus at Tosaden Kotsu Bus Terminal and ride to Makino Botanical Garden (about 25 minutes).

🚗 By Car:
It takes about 15 minutes to drive from LuLuLu to Makino Botanical Garden. Parking is available!
