Welcome back dear readers, I am Anton, LuLuLu’s newest staff member,

 

and in today's blog post,

I will be introducing you to the absolutely stunning Katsurahama Beach.

 

 

Situated at the outskirts of Kochi City and facing the Pacific Ocean, this place provides some truly breathtaking views.

It’s considered by many to be the most iconic piece of nature in Kochi City.

 

The images almost speak for themselves, this is one of the most beautiful places I have 

ever visited. On the outermost cliff you will find a small shrine facing the ocean,

it’s called the “Kaizumi Shrine”. At the shrine you can pay a small fee,

and in return it will tell you your fortune.

 

 

 

However it seems that my fortune is not that great, hopefully yours will be better!

If you are satisfied with your fortune slip, you can fold it up and tie it to the railing

that stands in front of the shrine, this will make your wish come true.

 

 

On a sunny day, you can even see Cape Muroto far off in the distance,

some even say they can see all the way to Cape Ashizuri! However I couldn’t,

maybe you can if you come and visit Katsurahama Beach.

 

 

On the Beach you will find an aquarium as well,

exhibiting animals such as penguins, otters, and all sorts of fish.

 

 

Please note however that Katsurahama Beach, despite its calmness and beauty,

is home to some very strong underwater currents. Therefore swimming is prohibited.

 

 

 

Lastly, at the left side of the Beach you will find a large statue of the “Sakamoto Ryoma”.

A samurai from Kochi who played a very important role in bringing democracy to Japan during the end of the Edo period.

He is considered a hero by many, not only locally, but throughout the country as well. 

That’s why my next blog post will focus on the Sakamoto Ryoma Museum

which is located right next to Katsurahama Beach, stay tuned for that!

 

Now some useful information about Katsurahama Beach:

• The Beach is open and accessible 24/7, parking is available as well right next to the beach.
• The beach also houses a gift shop, restaurant, and café.
• The aquarium is open all days of the week from 9am - 5pm, the current entry fee for the aquarium is 1600 yen.
• Katsurahama Beach is located all the way at Kochis beach front, there are a few different ways to get there. At the tourist i information office in Kochi City, you can purchase a bus ticket for a special sightseeing bus which stops at Katsurahama Beach as well, it costs around 1000 yen. Alternatively you can bike there as well, LuLuLu has bicycles available for all guests!

本日のブログでは、桂浜をご紹介します。

 

高知市の郊外に位置し、太平洋に面しているこの場所は、

本当に息をのむような景色を見せてくれます。

多くの人が、高知市を象徴する自然の一部だと考えている。

 

私がこれまで訪れた中で最も美しい場所のひとつだ。
のひとつだ。一番外側の崖の上に、海に面した小さな神社がある

。その神社では小さなお賽銭を払うと、おみくじを引いてくれる。

 

しかし、私のおみくじはあまり良くないようだ！

おみくじに満足したら、折りたたんで神社の前にある手すりにくくりつけると、

願いが叶うという。

 

晴れた日には、遥か彼方に室戸岬も見えるし

、足摺岬まで見えるという人もいる！

桂浜に来れば見えるかもしれない。

 

桂浜には水族館もあり、

ペンギンやカワウソ、魚などが展示されている。

 

ただし、桂浜はその穏やかさと美しさとは裏腹に、

非常に強い海流がある。そのため遊泳は禁止されている。

 

最後に、ビーチの左側には大きな「坂本龍馬」の像がある。

幕末の日本に民主主義をもたらした重要な役割を果たした高知出身の侍だ

彼は地元だけでなく、全国的にも多くの人から英雄視されている。
というわけで、次回は桂浜のすぐ隣にある坂本龍馬記念館を取り上げます！

さて、桂浜についていくつか情報を：
海水浴場は年中無休で営業しており、駐車場も海水浴場のすぐそばにある。
ビーチにはギフトショップ、レストラン、カフェもある。
水族館の入場料は1600円。
桂浜海水浴場は高知のビーチフロントにある。

高知市の観光i案内所では、桂浜にも停車する特別観光バスのチケットを購入できる。

また、LuLuLuでは宿泊客に自転車を貸し出しているので、自転車で行くこともできる！
