Good morning, good day, and good evening dear readers! My name is Anton and I am part of

Where am I in this picture? I’m in Shikoku Karst! A very special mountain range nestled 1485
meters above sea level on the borders of Kochi and Ehime prefectures.

 

 

The area resembles the rolling hills of a prairie. If you go during spring, summer or autumn, you
will find the area to be very lively! The cows of local farms will be walking around freely enjoying
the grass of the hills, and local shops will be serving delicious ice cream and coffee.
I visited the mountain range this winter, it was incredibly beautiful, but it was also off season,
and so the shops were closed and the cows gone. Therefore I would suggest winter if you want
the whole area to yourself, as there are no people either, but the other seasons if you want to
experience the delicious ice cream and coffee, as well as the roaming cows.

 

 

It’s said that you can see all the way to the sea on a clear day, I’m not sure if it’s placebo, but I
did feel like I could almost see the sea! One thing that you for sure will be able to see, is the
highest mountain in western Japan, Mt. Ishizuchi.
You will also be able to find plenty of waterfalls around and near the area of Shikoku Karst.

 

This beautiful waterfall was just a 20 minute drive from the area. Speaking of which, for the best
experience, you will want to visit Shikoku Karst by car. The surrounding area has poor public
transport, and is located a bit far from Kochi city.

will still highly recommend the trip! Not only is Shikoku Karst beautiful, but so is the nature along
the road from Kochi to Shikoku Karst. It is a good opportunity to truly experience rural Kochi and

この写真のどこにいるかって？私は四国カルストにいます！
高知県と愛媛県の県境にある標高1485メートルの山々。

まるで大草原のなだらかな丘陵地帯のようだ。
春、夏、秋に行くと、この地域はとても活気がある！
地元の牧場では牛がのびのびと草原を歩き回り、地元の商店ではおいしいアイスクリームやコーヒーが振る舞われる。
私は今年の冬にこの山脈を訪れたが、信じられないほど美しかった、
そのため、お店は閉まっていたし、牛もいなかった。
おいしいアイスクリームとコーヒー、そして歩き回る牛を楽しみたいのであれば、他の季節をお勧めする。

 

晴れた日には海まで見渡せると言われている。
海が見えるような気がした！確実に見えるのは、西日本最高峰の富士山だ。
西日本最高峰の石鎚山だ。
また、四国カルスト周辺には滝がたくさんある。

この美しい滝は、この地域から車で20分ほどのところにあった。そういえば、最高の体験のために
四国カルストを車で訪れることをお勧めする。四国カルスト周辺は公共交通機関が乏しく
高知市内から少し離れている。

それでも、私はこの旅を強くお勧めする！四国カルストだけでなく、高知から四国までの道沿いの自然も美しい。
高知の田舎とその素晴らしい自然を体験するいい機会だ。
