【本山町・棚田アートが見頃！】高知の夏、絶景の“天空の郷”へ

高知県の山間部、本山町の「吉延棚田」で、今年も棚田アートが見頃を迎えています！

実は、今年の3月にもこの吉延の棚田を訪れていたジョー。
しかしそのときの棚田は一面茶色。
棚田といえば、以前訪れたフィリピンのバナウェイの棚田が記憶に強く残っており、
あの緑のグラデーションを期待していたのですが——
田植え前の時期だったので、まだ風景としては寂しい印象でした。

そして先日、地元新聞で「本山町・棚田アートが見頃！」という記事を見つけてびっくり。
あの棚田が、まさかの巨大アート作品に変身していたとは…！

今年のテーマは「ヘビ」「テントウムシ」「ロケット」
地元・吉延地区の住民と子どもたちが一緒に制作したこの作品には、
「地域の未来を切り拓く」という願いが込められています。

棚田の立体的な地形を活かしたデザインは、上から見ると本当に美しく、
“映えスポット”としてもおすすめの景観です。

ちなみに吉延の棚田は、全国的にも有名なブランド米**「天空の郷」**の産地。
そのおいしいお米が育つ環境だからこそ、この美しい景色があるのかもしれません。

LuLuLu本館からは車で約1時間半。
高知市内からの日帰りドライブにもぴったりです🚗

[Rice Terrace Art Now at its Best in Motoyama Town, Kochi!]

Earlier in March, I visited the Yoshinobu rice terraces in Motoyama—and they were still brown and bare.

Then just recently, I spotted a newspaper article:
“Tanada Art in Full Bloom in Motoyama!”

To my surprise, those same fields had transformed into a giant work of art.
This year’s rice paddy art features a snake, ladybug, and rocket—created by locals and children, symbolizing hope and progress for the region.

The terraced terrain adds a dramatic effect to the visuals, making it a truly Instagram-worthy spot.

Yoshinobu is also known for growing premium Tenkū no Sato rice—tasty, healthy, and famous all across Japan.

It’s just a 90-minute scenic drive from LuLuLu.
