今年は、高知の初夏の風物詩「蛍」をもっと楽しもうと思い、
何度か定期的に蛍探索に出かけています！

今回はその2回目のレポートです。
今日も蛍を探してきました〜！

お馴染み、本宮川へ

まずは、ルルルから徒歩10分ほどの本宮川へ。
この前よりも明らかに蛍の数が増えていて、
草の上にとまる光だけでなく、ふわりと舞う蛍にも出会えました。

やっぱりここは、近所で気軽に行けるスポットとして最高です。
夜風も気持ちよくて、まさに「癒しの夜さんぽ」。

そして、蛍の名所・土佐山へ！

今回はさらに、**高知市内で有名な蛍スポット「土佐山」**にも行ってみました！
現在は「清流鏡川 ほたる祭り」（5月31日〜6月8日）が開催中の場所です。

私が行ったのは5月30日だったので、まだピーク前。
でも、林の奥に小さくチカチカ光る蛍をいくつか発見！
ヒメボタルかもしれません。あれはあれでまた雰囲気があります。

🪷 それぞれのスポットで見られる蛍の種類

• 本宮川（ルルルから徒歩10分）
  　→ ゲンジボタル（明るく長く光る）
• 土佐山（車で30分）
  　→ ゲンジボタル・ヒメボタル・クロマドボタル
  　※ヒメボタルは小さくて、短くチカチカ点滅するのが特徴！

📱スマホで蛍を綺麗に撮るには？

一応、**ネットで紹介されていた「スマホで蛍を撮る方法」**を載せておきます！

• 夜景モードをONにする（iPhoneは「ナイトモード」）
• ピントを固定する（長押しでAFロック）
• 露出を下げる（画面タップ→太陽マークで調整）
• 動画モードで撮影して、あとで明るい部分を切り出す
• 三脚や岩の上などにスマホを固定してブレ防止！

……

やってみたんです。全部。
でもね、よくわからん！😂

どう頑張っても綺麗な写真は撮れませんでした！

ということで、今回はお見せできる写真はありませんが、
だからこそ！実際に皆さんの目で見に行ってみてください。

静かな夜の川辺や森の中で、
ふわりと光るあの瞬間は、スマホでは絶対に伝えきれませんよ〜！

✨Firefly Spotting in Kochi! A Night Walk to Hongu River & Tosayama

Hi! This is Joe from LuLuLu, Kochi’s first share house & guesthouse.
We’re right in the middle of firefly season in Kochi — one of the most magical times of the year!

This was my second firefly-hunting walk of the year, and I’m excited to share what I found.

First Stop: Familiar Hongu River

Just a 10-minute walk from LuLuLu, the Hongu River is one of our favorite local spots.
Compared to my last visit, there were way more fireflies!
Not just the ones glowing quietly on the grass — this time, they were flying around too.

It was so peaceful and beautiful, and the cool evening breeze made it even better.

Second Stop: Tosayama — Firefly Heaven

Next, I drove about 30 minutes to Tosayama, a well-known firefly viewing spot in Kochi.
The Seiryu Kagami River Firefly Festival is now on (May 31–June 8)!

I visited on May 30, just before the official start,
so there weren’t too many yet, but I did catch some tiny lights blinking in the forest —
possibly Hime-botaru, a rare and tiny species!

🪷 Firefly Types by Location

• Hongu River (10 min walk from LuLuLu)
  　→ Genji-botaru (bright & slow glowing)
• Tosayama (30 min by car)
  　→ Genji-botaru, Hime-botaru, Kuromado-botaru
  　※Hime-botaru is rare, smaller, and flickers quickly!

📱Trying to Photograph Them… but Failed 😅

So here’s what the internet says about photographing fireflies with your phone:

• Turn on night mode (iPhone does this automatically)
• Lock focus (tap and hold for AF lock)
• Lower the exposure (tap screen → adjust sun icon)
• Record a video and cut out the best frames
• Use a tripod or set your phone on a stable surface

……

I tried everything. Seriously.
Still couldn’t get a good photo! 😂

So unfortunately, I can’t show you any pictures —
but maybe that’s a good thing.

You really need to see it with your own eyes.
The quiet forest, the soft breeze, and those magical flickers of light…
No phone can capture that.
