そんな方にぜひおすすめしたいのが、「奥物部湖湖水祭（おくものべここすいさい）」です！

高知市内から車で1時間半ちょっと。
山の中にある静かな湖「奥物部湖」で開催されるこのお祭りは、花火×自然の絶景という最強の組み合わせで、知る人ぞ知る“隠れた夏の名イベント”なんです！

奥物部湖湖水祭ってどんなお祭り？

このお祭りは、毎年8月上旬に**香美市の奥物部湖（さめうらダム）**周辺で開催される夏の風物詩。

イベント会場には地元グルメが並ぶ屋台や、ステージでの演奏、和太鼓パフォーマンスなど、地元ならではの雰囲気が楽しめるのが魅力。

そしてなんといっても目玉は、湖の上に打ち上がる大迫力の花火！

静かな山間に響く花火の音と、湖面に映る光のコントラストは、まるで映画のワンシーン。
都会の花火大会とは一味も二味も違う、「自然と調和した花火体験」ができます。

花火はどこで見るのがおすすめ？

打ち上げ会場は湖のほとり。メイン会場で観覧するのももちろん良いですが、ちょっとだけ離れた高台スポットから見るのが、実はとってもおすすめ！

風通しもよく、混雑も少なく、湖面に映る花火までしっかり見られます。

高知市内からの行き方は？

高知駅から車で約1時間30分〜1時間45分ほど。
国道195号線経由で香美市・物部町方面へ向かい、「さめうら湖」看板を目印に進んでください！

途中、山道もあるので運転に自信がない方や夜道が心配な方は早めの出発がおすすめ。

公共交通機関だとやや不便なので、レンタカーやカーシェア利用が◎。

注意点もチェック！

• 夜はかなり涼しいです！
  山間部なので、日中は暑くても夜は長袖がないと寒いかも。羽織り物をお忘れなく！
• トイレが少なめ！
  事前にコンビニなどで済ませておくと安心。
• 帰りは渋滞＆真っ暗です！
  帰りの混雑を避けたいなら、花火終了直後にさっと動けるようにしておくのがコツ。
• スマホの電波が入りにくい場所もあります！
  地図や連絡手段はオフライン対応しておくと安心です。

When you think of summer, you think of fireworks! The Yosakoi Festival in Kochi City and the fireworks on the beach are great, but if you're looking for a place where you can relax and enjoy nature a little more, then this is the place for you.

We highly recommend the Okumonobe Lake Water Festival!

It's about an hour and a half by car from Kochi City.

This festival, held at the quiet lake “Okumonobe Lake” nestled in the mountains, combines fireworks with breathtaking natural scenery—a perfect match that makes it a hidden gem of summer events known only to those in the know!

What kind of festival is the Okumonobe Lake Water Festival?

This festival is a summer tradition held every year in early August around Okumonobe Lake (Sameura Dam) in Kami City.

The event venue features local food stalls, stage performances, and Japanese drum performances, offering a unique local atmosphere.

But the real highlight is the spectacular fireworks display over the lake!

The sound of fireworks echoing through the quiet mountains and the contrast of light reflected on the lake surface is like a scene from a movie.

It's a “fireworks experience in harmony with nature” that is completely different from fireworks displays in the city.

Where is the best place to watch the fireworks?

The fireworks are launched from the lakeside. Of course, you can watch them from the main venue, but we actually recommend watching them from a slightly elevated spot a little further away!

The breeze is nice, there are fewer crowds, and you can see the fireworks reflected on the lake surface clearly.

Recommended viewing spots:

The plaza above the roadside station “Birafu”

→ The view is excellent, and you can relax with a picnic blanket.

Along the lakeside road around Sameura Dam

→ You can park your car and watch from inside, local-style!

How to get there from Kochi City?

It takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes by car from Kochi Station.

Take National Route 195 toward Kami City and Monobe Town, and follow the signs for “Sameura Lake”!

There are some mountain roads along the way, so if you're not confident in your driving skills or are worried about driving at night, we recommend leaving early.

Public transportation is a bit inconvenient, so renting a car or using a car-sharing service is recommended.

Check the precautions!

It gets quite cool at night!

Since it is in the mountains, even if it is hot during the day, it may be cold at night without a long-sleeved shirt. Don't forget to bring a jacket!

There are few restrooms!

It is safer to use the restroom at a convenience store beforehand.

The return trip is congested and completely dark!

If you want to avoid the congestion on the way back, the trick is to be ready to leave immediately after the fireworks end.

There are also areas with poor cell phone reception!

It's a good idea to prepare offline maps and communication methods for peace of mind.

The 63rd Okumonobe Lake Water Festival will take place on August 14, 2025 (Thursday).

The event runs from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

Fireworks are scheduled for approximately 8:00 PM to 8:20 PM, with around 400 fireworks illuminating the night sky and lake surface.

Note that the event will proceed rain or shine, but in case of severe weather, it will be postponed to August 17 (Sun).

Lululu is often fully booked in August, but there are still rooms available!
